Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)

Sally Kay method

RLD is a ground breaking and multi award winning unique reflexology sequence which has been designed and researched by Sally Kay while working within cancer care. RLD is based on the anatomy, physiology and function of the lymphatic system and the principles of MLD and SLD and Reflexology. The technique focuses on stimulating the lymphatic system reflexes on the on either the feet or the hands, there is no massage or manipulation of the body involved.
Clinical trails have shown a positive reduction in swelling and wellbeing, with results comparable to MLD.

What is the lymphatic system

It is a one-way drainage system. Its functions are defense – by supporting the immune system and transportation-clearing fluid and particulate waste matter through the body.

What is lymphoedema.

It is a chronic condition which causes body tissue to gradually swell with fluid as a result of blocked or damaged drainage channels and glands or due to the absence of lymph tissue following surgery. Lymphoedema can affect all areas of the body though most commonly noticed in the arms and legs.
